Echo

Terms of Use

Last updated October 24, 2026

Welcome to Echo. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Hen David (“Echo”, “we”, “us”), the developer of the Echo app and its related services (together, the “Service”). By downloading, opening or using Echo you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Echo.

Please read section 3 (Echo is not medical care) and section 24 (Disputes) carefully. They limit what Echo is for and how disagreements are resolved.

1. What Echo is

Echo is a self-care and habit app built around a virtual companion. You build small daily habits, check in on your mood, write in a journal, talk with Echo by voice or text, and watch Echo grow. Some features use artificial intelligence (“AI”) to write Echo’s replies, letters, stories and suggestions.

Echo is for personal, non-commercial use. It is a wellbeing and motivation tool. It is not a medical device, a treatment or a professional service of any kind.

2. Who can use Echo

You must be at least 13 years old to use Echo. If you are under 18, or under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Echo only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use.

You may not use Echo if the law where you live forbids it, or if we have previously ended your access.

3. Echo is not medical care

Echo, its companion and everything it says, including its AI replies, breathing and grounding exercises, mood insights, sleep and activity information, are for general wellbeing and motivation only. Echo does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent any physical or mental health condition, and nothing in Echo is medical, psychological, psychiatric, nutritional or therapeutic advice.

Echo is not a doctor, a therapist, a counselor or a crisis service, and talking with Echo is not a substitute for talking with one. Always seek the advice of a qualified professional about any health question, and never ignore or delay professional advice because of something you read or heard in Echo.

If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or facing an emergency, stop using Echo and contact your local emergency number right away. For example:

  • Israel: Magen David Adom 101, or ERAN emotional first aid 1201
  • United States: 911, or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988)
  • United Kingdom and Ireland: 999 or 112, or Samaritans 116 123
  • European Union: 112
  • Anywhere else: your local emergency number or nearest emergency room

Echo is not monitored by people in real time and cannot call for help on your behalf.

Breathing, stretching and grounding exercises are gentle by design, but stop at once if you feel dizzy, pain or discomfort, and check with a doctor before starting any exercise if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or are unsure.

4. Talking with an AI companion

Echo’s replies, letters, adventure stories, morning notes, journal replies, daily mantras and habit suggestions are generated automatically by AI. You are talking with software, not a person. AI can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or inappropriate, and it can misunderstand you. Echo may sound warm and personal, but it has no feelings, intentions or real knowledge of your life beyond what you share with it.

Use your own judgment. Don’t rely on Echo for decisions about your health, safety, money, legal matters, relationships or anything important, and don’t treat anything Echo says as professional advice of any kind, including financial, legal, tax or investment advice.

Echo may remember things you tell it so it can follow up later. These memories are kept on your phone, and you choose what to share. Please don’t share other people’s sensitive information without their permission.

Echo may take small actions inside the app when you ask or mention them in a conversation, like checking off a habit you said you did. Check that these are right; you can always undo them.

5. Your account

You can use Echo without creating an account. When you first open Echo, the Service gives your device an anonymous identifier so that features like talking with Echo and friends can work.

You may choose to sign in with Apple or Google to back up your Echo and restore it on a new phone. You’re responsible for keeping your Apple or Google account secure and for everything that happens through your Echo account. Tell us right away if you believe it has been used without your permission.

Backups are a convenience, not a guarantee. Without an account, your Echo lives only on your device and is lost if you delete the app or lose the device. Even with an account, we can’t promise a backup will always be complete or available.

You can sign out or permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account deletes the backup and friend data we keep for it, as described in the Privacy Policy. It does not cancel an Echo Prime subscription: cancel that through the App Store or Google Play.

6. Health data

If you allow it, Echo reads limited information from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android: your steps, your sleep and your workouts. Echo only reads this information and never writes to it. You can turn access off at any time in your phone’s settings.

Echo uses this information to adjust Echo’s energy, to check off matching habits and to personalize what Echo says. These figures come from your devices and other apps; they may be incomplete or inaccurate, and Echo does not verify them. They are not medical measurements and must not be used to make health decisions.

7. The wake-up alarm

Echo’s alarm can ask you to complete a photo challenge to stop it. The photo is checked automatically by AI, which can make mistakes in either direction.

Alarms and reminders depend on your device, its settings, battery, sound and notification permissions, operating system behavior and network connection, all of which are outside our control. Echo’s alarm is a motivational feature, not a safety or critical-timing device. Don’t rely on it alone for anything important, such as taking medication, catching a flight or getting to work, and always keep a backup alarm.

Only photograph places and things you’re allowed to photograph, and avoid capturing other people.

8. Reminders, notifications and focus sessions

Echo sends reminders and notifications, by default during your waking hours, and can show focus sessions in the Dynamic Island and on the lock screen. You can change or turn these off in Settings or in your phone’s settings. Delivery and timing are not guaranteed.

9. Friends

You can add friends using a personal friend code and send each other good vibes. When you use friends, your friends can see your Echo’s name, look, growth stage and level, and how your day is going in general terms. They never see your habits, moods, journal, memories or conversations.

Only share your friend code with people you know. Be kind: don’t use friends to harass, pressure, spam or impersonate anyone. You can remove a friend at any time, which ends the friendship on both sides.

10. Your content

Your content is what you put into Echo: your habits, journal pages, mood check-ins, messages and voice, photos, memories and anything else you create or share. You own your content.

You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to run, maintain and improve the Service for you, including by sending it to the service providers described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except for copies we must keep by law or that remain for a limited time in backups.

You are responsible for your content. You promise you have the right to share it and that it doesn’t break the law or anyone’s rights. We don’t use your content to train AI models, and we don’t sell it.

What Echo writes for you, like letters, stories and mantras, is yours to keep and use personally. Because AI output is generated automatically, similar text may be produced for other people, and we make no promise that it is unique or protected by copyright.

11. Voice and recording

When you talk with Echo by voice, your speech is turned into text in real time so Echo can answer, and Echo’s replies are spoken by a synthetic voice. Echo listens only during a conversation you start, and stops listening when it ends. We don’t keep your recordings.

Echo’s voices are synthetic. Don’t use Echo to record, imitate or capture anyone else’s voice or conversation without their consent, and follow the recording laws where you are.

12. Sparks, items and other virtual things

Echo has virtual things: sparks, XP, levels, energy, streaks, days off, shop items, places, souvenirs, adventures and similar features (“Virtual Items”). You earn them by using Echo. Sparks can’t be bought with money.

Virtual Items have no monetary value and are not money, currency, stored value, an e-money product, a financial instrument, a security or property of any kind. They can’t be sold, transferred, traded, gifted outside the features Echo offers, exchanged or cashed out for money, goods or anything of value, inside or outside Echo. Any attempt to do so is void.

You receive a limited, personal, revocable license to use Virtual Items inside Echo. We may change, rebalance, rename, limit or retire Virtual Items and how they are earned, including XP and spark caps, at any time. Virtual Items may be lost if you delete the app without a backup, and they end when your access ends. Except where the law requires otherwise, we owe you no compensation or refund for Virtual Items.

Nothing in Echo is gambling: there are no paid chances, prizes of real-world value or wagers.

13. Echo Prime

Echo Prime is an optional paid subscription that opens extra features, such as Echo reading stories aloud, more voices, a deeper memory, insights, a morning note, Prime shop items and places, and extra sparks. The features included may change over time; we’ll describe the current ones in the app.

Billing. Echo Prime is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, who act as the merchant of record. Their terms and payment policies apply to your purchase. We never see or store your card or payment details. The price, billing period and any taxes are shown in the app and in the store before you buy, and may vary by country and currency.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, and your store account is charged within 24 hours before the period ends, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your Echo account does not cancel it.

Free trials and offers. If we offer a free trial or an introductory price, its terms are shown before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or offer ends, the subscription continues at the regular price. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription, where the store applies this.

Cancellation and refunds. When you cancel, Prime stays on until the end of the period you already paid for, and is not refunded for the remaining time except where the law requires. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these Terms limits any right to cancel or receive a refund that you have under the consumer protection laws where you live, including the right of withdrawal for consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom, and cancellation rights under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981, to the extent they apply. Where the law allows, by starting Prime right away you ask for immediate access and acknowledge that a statutory withdrawal right may end once the service has started.

Price changes. If the price of Prime changes, you’ll be told in advance as required by the store and by law, and where required, asked to agree before the new price applies.

After Prime ends. Prime features stop, but things you already own, like items bought with sparks, stay yours. Prime shop items that require Prime may become unavailable to use until you subscribe again.

Gifts. If we offer Echo Prime as a gift, extra terms are shown when you buy it. A gift can’t be exchanged for cash.

Restore purchases. If you change phones, you can restore an active subscription from the store account you bought it with.

14. Acceptable use

Please use Echo the way it’s meant to be used. You agree not to:

  • break any law or anyone’s rights, or use Echo to harm, harass, threaten, deceive or impersonate anyone
  • try to make Echo produce illegal, sexual content involving minors, violent, hateful or dangerous content, or instructions for harming yourself or others
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, scrape or try to extract the source code, models, prompts or data of the Service, except where the law expressly allows it
  • interfere with, overload, probe or bypass the security, limits or access controls of the Service, or access it by automated means
  • resell, sublicense, rent or commercially exploit the Service or its output
  • use Echo to build a competing product or to train AI models
  • manipulate XP, sparks, streaks, friends or other features through cheating, bugs, scripts or multiple accounts
  • upload malware or anything that infringes intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights

We may limit, suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules or puts others or the Service at risk.

15. Our intellectual property

Echo, its companions, characters, world, art, animations, sounds, texts, software, design and trademarks belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely without paying you or crediting you.

16. Services from other companies

Echo works with services from other companies, including Apple, Google, Anthropic (AI), ElevenLabs (voice) and Supabase (hosting), as described in the Privacy Policy. Your use of Apple and Google sign-in, Apple Health, Health Connect and the app stores is also governed by their own terms. We’re not responsible for services we don’t control, and their availability may affect Echo.

17. Changes to Echo

Echo keeps growing. We may add, change, test or remove features, including features marked as new or “coming soon”, at any time. Some features may be in testing and work imperfectly. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid Echo Prime subscription includes, we’ll tell you in advance, and you can cancel.

We may need to stop offering Echo altogether. If we do, we’ll try to give reasonable notice and a way to keep your data where we can.

18. Ending these Terms

You can stop using Echo at any time by deleting the app and, if you have one, deleting your account in Settings.

We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect you, other users or the Service. Where reasonable, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to fix the issue first. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and disputes, survive the end of these Terms.

19. Disclaimers

We work hard to make Echo good, kind and reliable, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment and non-infringement, and we don’t promise that Echo will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free or free of harmful components, or that AI output, health information, alarms, reminders or backups will be accurate, complete or available.

Some places don’t allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you. They never limit rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived.

20. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill or opportunity, arising from or related to Echo or these Terms, even if we were told such damages were possible.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims related to Echo or these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Echo Prime in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, or 50 US dollars.

These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or willful misconduct, or to your statutory rights as a consumer. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or our negligence.

21. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your content, your misuse of Echo or your breach of these Terms or the law. This does not apply to consumers in places where such a clause is not permitted.

22. Apple App Store

If you downloaded Echo from the Apple App Store, these terms also apply, and they take priority if anything conflicts:

  • These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Echo and its content.
  • Your license to use Echo is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that Echo may be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Echo.
  • If Echo fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Echo, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from any failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Echo or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Echo fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws, including in connection with Echo’s use of HealthKit.
  • If a third party claims that Echo or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must follow any applicable third-party terms when using Echo, such as your wireless data service agreement.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and on your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Questions, complaints or claims about Echo should be sent to us at support@echotruecompanion.com.

23. Google Play

If you downloaded Echo from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and purchases. Google is not responsible for Echo and is not a party to these Terms.

24. Disputes

Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly. Before starting any legal claim, please write to us at support@echotruecompanion.com with a description of the issue, and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The competent courts in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel, have exclusive jurisdiction, except as described below.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law gives you this right, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. The European Commission’s online dispute resolution information is available at its official consumer website.

If you live in the United States: you and we agree to resolve any dispute related to Echo or these Terms by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court or seek an injunction for intellectual property misuse. You and we waive any right to a jury trial and to take part in a class, collective or representative action. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing us with your name and a clear statement that you opt out. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim will proceed in court, not in arbitration. Where U.S. federal law applies to arbitration, the Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.

Any claim must be brought within one year after it arose, unless the law where you live requires a longer period.

25. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Echo changes or the law requires. We’ll show the date of the latest version at the top, and for material changes we’ll tell you in the app or by another reasonable way before they take effect. If you keep using Echo after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, stop using Echo and delete your account.

26. General

These Terms, the Privacy Policy and any terms shown when you buy something in Echo are the whole agreement between you and us about Echo. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, or to an affiliate, with notice where required. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment or agency relationship. We’re not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version controls to the extent the law allows.
